SpiritHouse strives for a better future, justice and cooperation on all levels, by fighting illiteracy, corporate globalization, racism, and poverty, which hinder human possibilities.

Who We Are

SpiritHouse is a nonprofit grassroots community-based organization. We are part of a movement of progressive movements and organizations that endeavor to connect people to each other for the purpose of liberation, enlightenment, and fulfillment. We are independent. We are not supervised by any corporate, religious, or state bureaucracy. Our freedom allows us the flexibility to work and develop the partnerships of our choice. This gives us clarity and direction.

What We Do

SpiritHouse works to get at the root of problems, not just the symptoms. We challenge the primary causes. We do this through partnerships by working from the bottom up. Our method of cooperation gives us the opportunity to assure that each person we work with receives personal, family, and community support.

How We Work

SpiritHouse uses a direct action, hands-on approach. We set up projects that connect the people we work with to the people who can help all of us meet our needs. We provide programs and services that aim to get the masses involved, so as to create and develop new and cooperative ways for the community to determine a better future.

Where We Work

Everyday, we and our partners work in communities of low-income households, high-poverty, inner-city neighborhoods, to bring about meaningful and positive change through innovative projects that involve people at all levels of life.
