Bone & Flesh

“We realize that the only people who care enough about us to work consistently for our liberation are us. Our politics evolve from a healthy love for ourselves, our sisters and our community which allows us to continue our struggle and work.” - The Combahee River Collective Statement

SpiritHouse end of year brunch 2019

For generations society has taught us that the most important value that we - Black, queer, formerly incarcerated, women, men and gender non conforming people can bring is production. So, our hands, minds, hearts and spiritual psyche, stay busy.  We birth nations into existence. We regularly perform miracles. We sing into flowers pushing through concrete and rock, encouraging them upwards and through. We use our hands and arms to lift, hold, guard and fend while braiding love, breath, pride and protection into our and our babies' crowns

We have worked our fingers down to bone and flesh

As we continue to live into our liberation deeply rooted in love, we gather monthly with fellow SpiritHouse tribe members to intentionally practice our collective  healing, celebration, freedom and joy.
